Keeping mom safe
"I knew I had to quit. At this time with the coronavirus, I have to put my mom first. She's my priority to keep safe," said Gwen Wilson, right, who resigned as director of housekeeping from Sister's of St. Louis, after they opened their services to the homeless. "I have no issue treating the homeless. I want to help them. It's just my mom is 79 years old. She is vulnerable. She has Parkinson's, cancer, diabetes... ," said Wilson, who poses for a portrait alongside her mother Stella Walton on Monday, April 13, 2020, at their home in Bellefontaine Neighbors. Walton spent 8 nights in the hospital back in January with the flu and pneumonia. All 12 COVID-19 deaths' in St. Louis have been Black patients.
